We are currently seeking an experienced English Language Learning (ELL) Adjunct Instructor to join our team on a remote basis. About the Role As an ELL Adjunct Instructor at FVTC, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic journey of our students. You will be responsible for teaching ELL courses in various formats, including face-to-face, virtual, online, and hybrid. Your expertise and passion for language learning will help students achieve their academic and career goals. Key Responsibilities Facilitation of Learning: Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction to students in ELL programs, assessing their learning outcomes at the unit, course, and program levels. Classroom Curriculum: Develop and maintain ELL classroom curriculum and instructional materials that are competency-based, current, and aligned with employer expectations. Classroom Management: Maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, ensure a safe and organized instructional environment, and provide opportunities for student evaluation. Interpersonal/Team Skills: Collaborate with the instructional team to plan, develop, schedule, and budget for ELL programs, demonstrating a cooperative and professional attitude. Business/Industry/Community Linkages: Develop and deliver customized ELL training for various clients as needed, fostering partnerships with businesses and industries. Student Support and Guidance: Advise and support students as a mentor and role model, helping them achieve their learning and career goals. Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on knowledge and skills required for the role, as directed by FVTC. Qualifications, Training, and Experience To be considered for this role, you should possess: A Master's degree in English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics, or English or Education with at least 18 credits in any of the above areas. Previous ELL teaching experience and curriculum development experience in both synchronous and asynchronous environments. Experience in delivering instruction by alternative methods, such as online in synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Familiarity with computer applications, including Collaborate, Blackboard, Microsoft Office, Teams, OERs, and other programs that promote student success. Knowledge of a foreign language is highly desirable. Upon hire, you will be required to maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable. Essential Aptitudes, Skills, Knowledge, and Personal Characteristics As an ELL Adjunct Instructor at FVTC, you should possess: Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques. Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods. Ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery. Excellent communication and human relations skills, with the ability to interact with diverse populations. Ability to effectively interact with businesses and industries to establish partnerships and address needs.
