About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our cross-disciplinary team of lab and data scientists. As a Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of developing computer vision tools for cell characterization in biomanufacturing processes. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your skills and expertise in a fast-paced, innovative environment and contribute to the development of lifesaving medicines. Key Responsibilities Development of Image Processing Techniques: Design and implement image processing techniques to extract valuable biological insights from microscope images of cells, including definition of training and inferencing pipelines. Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor and maintain inferencing pipelines deployed in the field to ensure seamless execution and optimal performance. Implementation of Image Analysis Toolbox: Robustly implement the internal image analysis toolbox for team use, with clear documentation and unit testing to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. Data Management: Support broader data management activities, including image dataset curation and pre-processing, to ensure data quality and integrity. Reporting and Collateral: Prepare reports to support Quality Assurance and marketing collateral, communicating complex data insights effectively to various stakeholders. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess: A first degree in Computer Science with formal software engineering training, providing a solid foundation in computer science principles and software development methodologies. A postgraduate qualification in Data Science with a significant Artificial Intelligence component, demonstrating your expertise in data science and AI. More than 1 year of experience working in computer vision and using standard libraries such as Tensorflow and/or Pytorch, opencv, and scikit-learn, showcasing your proficiency in computer vision and AI. More than 2 years of software engineering experience working with Python, highlighting your ability to develop efficient and effective software solutions. More than 2 years of experience with DBMS and query languages, particularly SQL, demonstrating your ability to manage and analyze large datasets. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications would be a significant advantage: Previous experience working in an interdisciplinary environment with Biomedical or Life Sciences data and colleagues, showcasing your ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess: Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant libraries such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, opencv, and scikit-learn. Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex data sets. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas to various stakeholders. A strong understanding of computer vision and AI principles, with the ability to apply these to real-world problems.
