Job Overview In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on various blithequark platforms, including television graphics, the Bottom Line, blithequark.com, Fantasy, and GameCast. You will work with automated data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and intelligent sports information. As a key member of our team, you will also contribute to transforming data into storylines, identifying statistical events that help explain why a team won or lost, and collaborating with colleagues to drive innovation and excellence. Key Responsibilities Guarantee sports data disseminated by blithequark is accurate, timely, and insightful. Work in individual settings and in groups to deliver accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and various metrics and data in real-time that power numerous blithequark products and productions. Create and maintain an active knowledge of blithequark's role in fueling digital products and television productions. Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail. Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-and part-time staff. Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and offer possible solutions. Communicate rapidly and clearly with colleagues on these issues. Play a proactive role in working with colleagues in developing or refining production processes. Be an active participant in team and department meetings. Seek and respond to feedback around individual performance. Stay informed about current office policies and procedures. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games. Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (exclusively), weekends, and holidays. Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data that drives blithequark's digital and television products. Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances. Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: 1+ years of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media. Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes. Working knowledge of blithequark products and productions. Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products. Experience leading or mentoring a team. Ability to speak and write Spanish. Experience using social media in a business or news environment. Education Requirements The minimum education requirement for this role is a High School diploma or equivalent. However, a Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred. Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. You should be able to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Additionally, you should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and have experience with data analysis and interpretation.
