The Role: Data Engineer for Customer Service At arenaflex, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience. When our members encounter issues with our service, we strive to resolve them quickly and efficiently, ensuring they can get back to streaming their favorite content without interruption. Our Customer Service team is at the forefront of this effort, engaging with millions of members via phone and chat in 25 different languages. Within our Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team, we leverage data to meticulously measure, optimize, and personalize our Customer Service investments, aiming to create a delightful and efficient experience for our members while continuously improving our product based on their feedback. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and CS business owners to design and build reliable, scalable data pipelines that transform raw data into core business metrics. Work with custom visualization tools to surface Customer Service insights, enabling data-driven decision-making and process improvements. Develop and maintain big data pipelines using technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink, with a focus on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records). Apply strong data modeling skills to design structures that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes, ensuring data quality and integrity. Demonstrate analytical aptitude in thinking through business problems, such as metrics development, and prioritize tasks autonomously with strong technical judgment. Communicate effectively and foster productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to drive business outcomes and improve Customer Service operations. Essential Qualifications At least 4 years of experience in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies on medium to large-scale data sets. Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design adaptable structures that accommodate changes in source data or business processes. Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code and advocating for data quality. Advanced SQL skills and a strong understanding of data quality principles. Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize tasks autonomously. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience in working with cross-functional teams, including analysts, engineers, and business leaders. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and technologies. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git. Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques, with experience in creating interactive and dynamic dashboards. Strong understanding of data governance and data security principles, with experience in implementing data protection measures. Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
