As a Cloud Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing technical solutions to improve the American Express Hybrid Cloud platform, focusing on automation for highly scalable cloud services delivery. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the API engineering team, UI engineering team, quality engineering, and product management to build scalable, high-performance API and integration solutions. Research and apply emerging technologies and libraries that enable lean product development. Design and implement API/Middleware solutions that integrate with NoSQL databases, platforms, and partner systems. Secure APIs with security integrations such as Okta, SSO, mTLS, HashiCorp Vault, etc. Implement best programming practices that produce effective code, including design patterns, code style consistency, integration, unit testing, and code review. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and a passion for rapid software development. Essential Qualifications and Skills To excel in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 2+ years of experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Private Cloud. 2+ years of experience in developing REST APIs using languages like GoLang or Java. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. A deep understanding of REST principles as both a provider and consumer. Strong experience with NoSQL databases (CouchBase and ETCD are a plus). Proficiency in security integrations such as Okta, mTLS, SSO, HashiCorp Vault, etc. Experience with Container Orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Openshift, etc. A solid grasp of CI/CD cycles and tools like Git, Docker, Jenkins, Spinnaker, XL Delivery, etc. A proven track record of developing middleware solutions with a focus on code quality, unit testing, integration testing, and API documentation. Familiarity with agile application development methodologies and QE processes.
