The Department of Physical Therapy, part of the College of Health Sciences, has a long-standing tradition of educating physical therapists since 1967 and is committed to advancing the field through cutting-edge research, exceptional teaching, and community service. Job Summary and Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time, 11-month tenure-eligible position, with a start date of July 1, 2024. The primary duties of this role include: Advancing a personal research agenda that enhances the Department and College, with a focus on securing extramural funding and publishing original research in reputable journals Teaching in content areas related to expertise, with a potential for course management and design, and contributing to the development of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external constituents, including faculty, students, and healthcare professionals Mentoring students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, providing guidance and support to facilitate their academic and professional growth Participating in departmental and college-wide service activities, including committee work and community engagement The distribution of effort for this position will be approximately 30-40% instruction, 30-50% scholarship/research, and 10% service, allowing for a balance between academic, research, and service responsibilities. Required and Preferred Qualifications To be considered for this position, candidates must possess: A terminal academic doctoral degree (i.e., PhD or similar terminal degree) in a relevant field Preferred qualifications include: A record of scholarly work, including original research with strong potential for extramural funding Expertise in content areas relevant to the rehabilitation sciences Current physical therapy license in Kentucky or eligibility for licensure Board Certified Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Teaching experience with potential for course management and design Demonstrated multicultural competency and experience interacting effectively with diverse groups of people Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
