As a Teachers Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to our teachers and helping to create a safe and engaging learning environment for our students. Key Responsibilities Actively supervise and monitor children, ensuring their safety at all times in accordance with OHS Performance Standards and NCDCDEE regulations Assist in setting up an environment (indoor/outdoor) that promotes learning and development Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with groups and individuals Observe and record behaviors of children to assist the Teacher in the identification of each child's strengths and areas to grow Participate in monthly staffing of children with all staff as appropriate Work with and encourage parent and community volunteers Integrate all Head Start components into classroom time Develop and utilize lesson plans that reflect mandated elements, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children Follow a consistent schedule that meets individual needs, including small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, cognitive development, meals, and effective transitions between activities Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom Work with special needs staff in the classroom to develop a collaborative approach that benefits all children in the classroom and meets the needs as specified Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have: A Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field (Preferred, but not required) A clean background working with children in a previous role CPR and First Aid Certification Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work effectively in a team environment A passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working in a classroom environment Knowledge of child development principles and practices Experience working with children with special needs Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work effectively in a team environment Patience, understanding, and empathy when working with children The ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to problems Strong organizational and time management skills The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Express Employment Professionals, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for career growth and development.
