As a Chemistry Tutor, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting students through organic and biochemistry courses, working closely with our faculty to ensure students' success. As a part-time Chemistry Tutor, you will be an integral part of our learner-centered team, working in a collaborative and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Engage students and provide systematic and consistent learning support services in a positive and efficient manner. Assist students with lecture or lab material in chemistry courses, study methods, and technology needed to complete course-related material. Greet students and visitors, and provide general information about the college and its services. Tutoring will take place primarily in-person at either the main campus or Akron location, with some online tutoring available based on hourly needs. Collaborate with faculty to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress. Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field with courses in general chemistry and organic chemistry. Microsoft Office Application skills and excellent communication skills. Comfort with technology usage and ability to learn new systems quickly. Ability to relate to a diverse student population with ingenuity, creativity, and compassion. Preferred qualifications include: Experience in tutoring or teaching chemistry or related subjects. Familiarity with online learning platforms and tools. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need: Strong knowledge of chemistry and organic biochemistry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including online and on-campus hours.
