ASSOCIATE OIL AND GAS ENGINEER
Caltrans District 3 is part of the Department of Conservation, which administers vital programs for California's public safety and environment. The Associate Oil and Gas Engineer will perform UIC project reviews and geological studies while providing technical evaluations of oil and gas operations. Responsibilities Independently perform Underground Injection Control (UIC) project reviews, Aquifer Exemption reviews, geological structural interpretation, and related engineering work in CalGEM Central District office Perform assignments that require a high degree of knowledge and skill in hydrocarbon technology, team leadership, communication, data management, presentation, and engineering work Perform technical review and evaluation of proposed and existing oil and gas projects and well operations Conduct complex geological studies, make complex oil, and gas reserve calculations, and prepare and interpret complex technical data, maps, and statistics Monitor and investigate the legality and advisability of existing and proposed oil and gas operations and advise operators on preventative or corrective actions Skills This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code This position requires a valid Driver's License All relevant work experience, skills sets, and professional qualifications must be listed on the STD. 678 Applications will be screened based on the information provided on the STD. 678 and not on your resume or SOQ Failure to include required information on the STD. 678 may result in elimination from the recruitment process This position requires a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) Applications submitted without an SOQ or an SOQ that does not answer the items/questions, and/or does not follow formatting instructions will be considered not interested in this position and will be eliminated from the selection process Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment If it is determined an applicant does not meet Minimum Qualifications, the applicant will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position Ability to communicate effectively (verbally/written) Excellent computer skills Possess good interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments Ability to promote a positive working environment and relationship with others Resume is optional.
