988 Call/Chat/Text Counselor-Overnight Shift

Job Summary We are seeking dedicated and compassionate 988 Call/Chat/Text Counselors to join our crisis intervention team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, and resource navigation to individuals experiencing mental health crises via phone, chat, or text. Your energetic approach and empathetic communication will help de-escalate crises, connect clients with appropriate services, and promote hope and resilience. Duties • Respond promptly and effectively to incoming calls, chats, and texts from individuals in crisis or distress, providing immediate emotional support. • Conduct thorough assessments using clinical interviewing techniques to understand the caller’s needs, risks, and strengths. • Utilize evidence-based intervention strategies such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and crisis management techniques to de-escalate situations. • Document all interactions accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding where applicable. • Make referrals to community resources, outpatient services, inpatient facilities, or specialized programs based on their unique needs. • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized safety plans and follow-up strategies. • Experience • Proficient use of computer, web-based technology, Micro-soft 365, Zoom, and trainable for other platforms and/or applications. • Demonstrated ability to multitask, remain present, and attuned to callers with a positive, professional attitude, evident to those who may be in their darkest hour. • Ability to apply pertinent skills to effectively execute crises and suicide strategies for problem solving when responding to individuals on the line. • Represent Contact Helpline and its partnering entities by providing excellent customer service and responding to everyone in a professional manner that is nonjudgmental, empathic, and culturally appropriate. • Private, quiet, closed-door location of home used for confidentiality of clientele. • Actively participate in office group meetings, colleagues, and ongoing professional development; and remain flexible. • Works as a responsible team member to foster a positive, and productive work environment. • Prior experience in crisis intervention or mental health counseling preferred; experience with telehealth platforms highly desirable. • Experience in inpatient or outpatient clinical settings involving patient assessment and case management is a plus. • Strong understanding of human services in the areas of mental, emotional and social needs, and crisis management protocols.
