VP Engineering (Systematic), Crypto Hedge Fund
About the position The Vice President of Engineering at Hermeneutic Investments will lead the Engineering team responsible for all systematic trading technology functions within a rapidly growing crypto hedge fund. This role involves overseeing technology systems and infrastructure, architecting scalable solutions, and fostering a collaborative environment among engineers and stakeholders. The position requires frequent travel to Taiwan and ideally relocation, with a focus on building a strong technology foundation in a dynamic market. Responsibilities • Oversight and responsibility for all aspects of technology systems and infrastructure across the systematic team. • Architect the technology team and systems to scale with the goals of the business over the short and long-term. • Implement a process-driven framework for engineers to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple projects with varying complexities and timelines. • Build and maintain an environment where the company's technology team culture flourishes, encouraging open technical dialog between engineers, enhancing business partnerships, continuously improving technical systems, and adopting modern-day technology best practices. Requirements • At least 5 years of experience at a top-tier Quant Trading firm as a hands-on engineer encompassing everything from design to development and monitoring of historical and real-time systems which are high-availability and fault tolerant. • At least 5 years of experience as a technology team leader at a top-tier technology or trading firm, building and leading talented technical teams of at least 5-10 people. • Bilingual Mandarin/English fluency is preferred given the location of the team (Taipei). • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences along with a strong sense of urgency. • Proven success in establishing and achieving key technology milestones, short and long term priorities and ability to shift direction in a fast paced environment. • Bachelor degree in computer systems engineering from a recognized university (Master preferred).
