About the position The Transportation Planning Manager 14 position functions as a first-line professional manager overseeing environmental analyses and documents for local agency federal aid projects. This role involves managing a team that reviews NEPA and NHPA compliance, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and ensuring the timely completion of environmental documents. The manager will also identify efficiencies in the clearance process and resolve complex project review questions. Responsibilities • Oversee the review of NEPA and NHPA environmental analyses and documents for local agency federal aid projects. • Manage a team of professionals in the completion of environmental documents. • Serve as a liaison with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding NEPA/NHPA compliance. • Identify and implement efficiencies in the environmental clearance process. • Provide guidance and training to local agency applicants. • Coordinate with resource and regulatory agencies. Requirements • Possession of a bachelor's degree in planning, environmental studies, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, logistics, or economics with at least 30 semester credits in relevant fields. • Five years of professional experience in transportation planning or engineering, including three years at a Transportation Planner P11 or Transportation Engineer P11 level, two years at a Transportation Planner 12 or Transportation Engineer 12 level, or one year at a Transportation Planning Specialist 13 or Transportation Engineering Specialist 13 level. • Valid driver's license.
