Transportation Planner 1 (New Graduates!)

Join CDM Smith to analyze transportation data, develop models, and support meaningful infrastructure projects in a collaborative environment. Your Role Key responsibilities include: • Gathering, compiling, and analyzing transportation data such as traffic counters and flow data. • Creating basic complexity modeling for existing and proposed transportation systems, including roads, bridges, highways, tunnels, and tolls. • Reviewing existing models and recommending improvements or changes as necessary. • Preparing studies of new systems, upgrades, re-routing, and reviews of existing transportation systems using models, simulations, and data. • Creating transportation surveys, exhibits, and meeting materials to identify public concerns and facilitate stakeholder input. • Leading and performing traffic count and safety studies. • Reviewing proposed transportation project sites for alignment with draft designs and plans. • Ensuring transportation plans comply with local, state, and federal laws and escalating legal compliance issues as needed. • Collaborating with engineers to research, analyze, or resolve transportation conceptual and schematic design issues. • Performing other duties as required under direct supervision. About You What you'll need: • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning, or related discipline; equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of degree. • Basic knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by all transportation modes and current transportation trends/issues. • Basic understanding of government regulations and agency rules related to transportation. • Basic knowledge of regional and community planning applications, including principles, techniques, procedures, models, and equipment. • Good written and oral communication skills. • 0 years of experience required. • Domestic and/or international travel may be required, frequency contingent on duties and project demands.
