The State of Nebraska is seeking a Temporary Conservation Biologist II for the Fisheries Division. This role involves assisting with Education Programs, conducting fisheries management activities, and delivering public presentations to diverse audiences. Responsibilities Assist Fisheries Division Education staff with the operation of Education Programs included in the events of Family Fishing, Outdoor Discovery, EXPOs, and Schramm Education Center Fisheries Management activities including field collection of fish community data and aquatic habitat assessment from reservoirs and lakes This position will be required to travel independently statewide to accomplish the above duties Education Program duties include delivery of public presentations to a diverse audience, particularly children, but will include adults and professional and civic organizations Fish community sampling techniques include boat electrofishing, trap nets, gill nets and seines This position will also be expected to assist with equipment maintenance, and other related responsibilities as assigned Skills 1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture Drivers license required General knowledge of fisheries management techniques and aquatic ecology Good communication and public speaking skills Ability to maintain simple records Ability to operate hand and power tools Ability to operate a pickup with trailer as well as a motorboat Benefits Comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities Company Overview State of Nebraska is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States.
