Position Description The Nurse Manager (NM) reports directly to the Director of Nursing and serves as a key operational leader, overseeing the performance and development of assigned clinical teams. This role provides day-to-day leadership to ensure nursing services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives. The nurse manager partners closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders to support clinical operations across service lines, drive quality initiatives, identify process improvement opportunities, and remove operational barriers to care delivery. Success in this role requires balancing clinical excellence with operational discipline. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in clinical practice, people leadership, and performance improvement with a demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, drive results, and elevate the patient and clinician experience. Essential Job Functions • Champion Team Culture: Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment built on trust, respect, and open communication, empowering team members to achieve their best. • Clinical Standards & Telehealth Excellence: Partner with the Director of Nursing on the continuous monitoring and improvement of nursing processes and metrics, ensuring alignment with evolving telehealth delivery models. • Operational Leadership: Oversee department teams and supervisors, guiding daily operations to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and performance metrics. Proactively address challenges and remove barriers to care delivery. • Strategic Budgeting & Resource Planning: Provide valuable input and support for departmental budgeting and forecasting, helping to optimize resources and drive cost-effective care. • Education & Professional Development: Coordinate and deliver targeted education and training programs, ensuring each team member’s development plan is supported and aligned with organizational goals. • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Nursing Director and other departments to ensure nursing operations support the broader goals, needs, and strategies of the organization. • Clinical Expertise & Project Support: Apply advanced clinical knowledge to support key projects and initiatives, driving improvements in patient care and operational efficiency. • Quality & Innovation: Lead the creation and implementation of innovative, sustainable solutions for quality improvement, patient and provider satisfaction, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. • Product & Technology Partnership: Collaborate with product development and medical directors to enhance clinical user experience and support product design improvements. • Enterprise Engagement: Engage with diverse teams across MDLIVE—including legal, compliance, credentialing, physicians, ambassadors, call center agents, sales, client account managers, product, IT, analytics, and external consultants—to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. • Technology-Driven Efficiency: Utilize MDLIVE-specific technologies to streamline nursing functions, drive automation, and maximize operational effectiveness. • Comprehensive Operations Management: Maintain responsibility for all aspects of Nursing Department operations, including scheduling, onboarding, training, and daily workflow management. • Continuous Improvement: Inspire and drive a culture of continuous improvement within the nursing team, encouraging innovation and adaptability. • Other Duties as Assigned: Embrace additional responsibilities as needed to support the evolving needs of the department and organization. • Uses MDLIVE specific technologies to execute Nursing functions in the most efficient and effective way possible; leverages technology to drive automation. • Maintains responsibility for Nursing Department operations including but not limited to overseeing scheduling, onboarding, training, and daily operational tasks. • Drives a continuous improvement mindset within the Nursing team. • Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and clinical care. • Communicate effectively. • Exhibit good listening and comprehension. Keep others well informed. • Evidence of proficiency in instructional methodology and strong interpersonal communication skills. • Prioritizes tasks and sets goals and timelines in which goals will be completed. • Demonstrates proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email. Education and Experience • RN or above • Five years prior experience as a registered nurse working in an outpatient setting (e.g. Primary Care, Urgent Care or Emergency Room) and/or related Telehealth environment. • Management operating experience commensurate with the position, with a minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory nurse experience. • Experience in quality, process improvement projects, or project management preferred. • Product/IT experience with proprietary IT system development preferred. • Must be a strong leader and can work independently/run operations with minimal supervision. If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 101,000 - 168,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
