Technical Capital Budget Analyst
About the position PSEG Long Island is seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Financial Analyst to join the Project Services team within the Information Technology group. This role is responsible for managing financial results for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) in accordance with the Operating Service Agreement (OSA). The successful candidate will operate in a fast-paced environment, influencing senior business leaders through effective communication and analytical support. The position reports to the Director of Project Services and involves a blend of strategic and tactical thinking. Responsibilities • Assist with the Utility Review Board (URB) process, including facilitating meetings and coordinating functions with Capital Budget Management staff. • Assist with LIPA capital reporting as required under the OSA, including post-URB meeting reporting and production of aging reports. • Guide and assist various lines of business in the annual capital budget development process, ensuring timely submissions to LIPA. • Prepare, plan, and monitor budgets and forecasts for the PSEG-LI IT business unit to meet financial targets. • Participate in variance analysis and query investigation for financial activity, ensuring accurate cost allocation. • Conduct capital reporting and analysis of actual results versus plan and projected year-ends. • Develop positive working relationships with primary clients and corporate departments to obtain necessary information. • Implement new business processes and improve current processes. • Provide financial planning for the capital budget development process, including SAP and financial systems maintenance. • Analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts, providing key business and financial guidance to the organization. • Drive business process implementation and improvement, participating in cross-functional teams to solve business issues. • Assist in the creation and communication of monthly financial documents for senior management. • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and actual vs plan analysis. • Identify areas of opportunity for efficiency and cost savings. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. • Minimum of seven (7) years of financial planning and analysis experience. • Demonstrated knowledge in accounting, budgeting, and financial practices. • Excellent PC skills with a superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external financial information providers. • Ability to present and interact with senior personnel. • Prior experience with IT Financial Management, TBM, Apptio, ServiceNow, Arriba, SAP, or similar areas. • Knowledge of GAAP.
