Location: Remote (40) Part time Requisition ID: JR753 Position Summary The Wyoming Naturalist Banding and Outreach Tech position combines community-based research and an opportunity to conduct basic conservation biology and environmental education. Two major activities are involved: (1) assisting outreach staff at the Audubon Rockies with educational programming and (2) conducting bird banding/outreach activities in public and private lands throughout Wyoming and Colorado. Other fieldwork may include point counts, area searches, and nest searches. Educational outreach will involve assistance with the community naturalist program. The selected candidate will be asked to capture and create content to share their summer experience with the Audubon Rockies communication team. Work is from early morning till midday 3-4 days per week followed by daily data entry when applicable totaling 24-32 hours per week. This role is remote based out of Casper, Wyoming and the position requires travel. A rental vehicle will be provided for any field travel. Compensation: $15.00 / hour Essential Functions • Act as an assistant bander at Audubon Rockies MAPS stations stations. • Input MAPS data daily. • Assist and lead summer outreach and events, including: • BioBlitz • Camps • Education Programs • Conduct point countscounts. • Capture and create content about your experience with Audubon Rockiesfor social media. • Qualifications and Experience • Bird banding station set up and passerine handling experience. • Preference for a minimum of 150 birds extracted. • Training will be provided for an exemplary candidate with less experience. • Outreach and event planning and organization experience • Basic bird identification skills • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in wildlife biology, ecology, zoology, outdoor education, or a related field. • EEO Statement The National Audubon Society is a federal contractor and an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
