Summer 2026 Corporate Food Technology Intern
About the position Kroger is looking for current college students who are interested in gaining on-the-job training, mentorship, and real-world experience in their field of choice. The summer internship program is designed to prepare students for entry-level, full-time positions upon successful completion of the internship. Interns will build technical and leadership competencies in the selected area of expertise while gaining a broad knowledge base of all core business functions critical to food safety and quality of Kroger processes and products. The program offers competitive pay, hands-on learning experiences, company exposure to senior leaders, and professional development opportunities. Summer 2026 Rotation Dates: May 18 - August 7. Responsibilities • Apply theoretical concepts that have been learned in the classroom to hands-on work assignments • Support Corporate Food Technology department and assist with activities of assigned department(s) including, but not limited to, product development, manufacturing food safety and quality, and retail food safety and regulatory compliance. • Collaborate with other corporate groups to include Supply Chain Manufacturing, Own Brands, Merchandising, and Divisions to deliver business goals. • Learn processes related to product development, consumer testing, review of nutrient profiles and labels for adherence to current and applicable regulations, food safety auditing, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and data management • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of data analysis and reporting functions • Gather and analyze food safety, quality, and product development data to provide qualitative and quantitative evaluation based on data findings. • Potential to engage in plant, lab, or store visits learning to risk assess processes to ensure safe, quality production, storage, and sale of food items • Demonstrate project planning and execution skills through use of available resources to ensure project completion • Contribute and participate in practical, challenging and meaningful assignments • Complete cumulative project and present to the executive team and cross-functional stakeholders Requirements • Pursuing a degree in food science, food microbiology, food chemistry, preferred • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher • Highly motivated student with the desire to take initiative on their own work Nice-to-haves • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in groups or independently • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to preserve confidentiality of information • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present information to various levels of the organization • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to analyze and interpret information and apply to business needs • Commitment to providing customer service Benefits • Competitive pay • Hands-on learning experiences • Company exposure to senior leaders • Professional development opportunities Apply tot his job
