Structural Engineer
Bechtel Corporation is a longstanding leader in infrastructure project management, having completed over 25,000 projects globally. They are seeking a Structural Engineer to originate and check engineering deliverables, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to support the construction of the Hanford Vit Plant, a facility designed to treat radioactive waste. Responsibilities Participates in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, civil drawings, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested Assists in constructability reviews Plans civil/structural layout, prepares detailed civil/structural design and layout drawings for small structures, portions of major buildings, roadways, railroads, etc Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements Prepares building material interface details for review by senior personnel Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements Prepares civil/structural designs and construction drawings using 2-D / 3-D computer aided design (CAD), presentation graphics and civil models and codes Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations Skills Bachelors in Structural/Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
