Strategic Content Editor for Marketing Agency (INDIVIDUALS ONLY)
We’re a marketing agency that creates content for local service businesses. We use AI tools and real data to generate content strategies and insightful first drafts. What we need is a sharp human editor who can make sure the final output actually sounds like the kind of content someone wants to read, not AI SLOP. This is not a writing-from-scratch role. It’s about judgment, clarity, and polish. You’ll review AI-generated content briefs and drafts, validate the strategy, and edit for quality, authenticity, and tone. Each blog post typically takes ~30-45 minutes total. Step 1: Validate the Strategy - Review the AI-generated content brief - Ask: Does this angle feel authentic to the client and their audience? - Flag anything that feels generic, off-brand, or misaligned - Approve the brief or suggest quick, practical adjustments Step 2: Polish the Content - Edit the AI-written draft for clarity, flow, and credibility - Ensure customer language and proof points are woven in naturally - Make the content sound human, not robotic - Add internal links and simple CTAs where appropriate - Final quality check before delivery You’ll be working from provided briefs, client context, and existing examples. This is about refining and elevating, not guessing. This role is: Editing, refining, and improving AI-assisted content Strategy validation at a practical, real-world level Fast, focused work with clear expectations This role is not: Writing long-form content from a blank page High-volume churn work Creative writing for its own sake Background We're Looking For: Strong fits: - Former journalist or content editor - Marketing copywriter with editorial experience - Content strategist (entry to mid-level) - English/Communications degree with some marketing experience Not necessary: - Deep SEO expertise (we handle that) - Industry expertise in our client niches - Years of experience (we'll train the right person) Do NOT send a generic cover letter. Instead, review this sample: CLIENT: Family dental practice (suburban Chicago) TOPIC: Emergency dental care STRATEGY: Emphasize same-day appointments (clients praise this in reviews) CUSTOMER LANGUAGE: "got me in right away", "same day", "didn't have to wait" PROOF POINT: Patient quote praising emergency response ANGLE: Counter competitors who refer emergencies out Answer these questions (300 words max total): What's ONE thing you'd check or need before approving this brief? (What could go wrong or what's missing?) If the AI-generated draft said "We offer comprehensive emergency dental services," how would you rewrite that sentence to match the brief's strategy? Copy and paste one sentence from this job post that made you want to apply. Don't explain why. Just the sentence. 3. Include: - Link to 2-3 samples of content you've edited (with before/after if possible) - Your availability (hours per week) Applications that do not answer all three questions will be ignored. We're looking for someone who can think strategically AND execute with quality. Show us you can do both. Apply tot his job
