Staff Accountant (Hybrid Remote) — Job Description Sprague Excavating Pay Range: $65,000–$85,000 annually (based on experience) Benefits: Benefits package available Job Type: Full-time Work Location: Hybrid Remote (Remote + Required In-Office Days) Sprague Excavating is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting. This position is primarily remote, with required in-office work twice per month during key accounting periods. Work Location / Schedule (Hybrid Remote) This is a hybrid remote position. The employee will work remotely most of the time but must be available to work on-site in the office: Twice per month (every month) Two working days mid-month and two working days at month-end Total on-site requirement: 4 working days per month All other work will be completed remotely. Key Responsibilities Perform day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support Enter and maintain accurate financial transactions in QuickBooks Enterprise Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis Assist with month-end close procedures including journal entries and financial reporting Support job costing and maintain project accounting records as needed Assist with payroll processing, reporting, and documentation (as applicable) Prepare and maintain financial statements, schedules, and internal reports Ensure compliance with company accounting procedures and maintain strong internal controls Maintain organized electronic records and documentation for audits and internal review Communicate effectively with internal team members while working in a remote environment Provide additional administrative accounting support as needed in a fast-paced setting Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of QuickBooks Enterprise experience (required) Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office/accounting tools Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a remote setting Strong organizational and communication skills Professionalism and discretion with confidential financial information CPA certification is NOT required.
