Senior Web Designer / UX Writer — Minimalist, High-Trust Experiment Site - Contract to Hire
I’m looking for a senior web designer / UX thinker to help finalize and refine a minimalist, trust-first website for a public-facing experiment. This is not a marketing site, funnel, or brand showcase. The goal is clarity, seriousness, and emotional calm — not persuasion. The structure and copy direction already exist. What I need is expert judgment in: Typography and hierarchy White space and pacing Information architecture Microcopy restraint UX decisions that reduce anxiety rather than manufacture urgency The site includes multiple pages (home, about, experiment, membership, upload/grid, FAQ, contact, and legal-adjacent pages). Visually simple, conceptually precise. I’m specifically looking for someone who: Is comfortable doing less, not more Can defend design decisions clearly Knows when not to add elements Has experience with editorial, civic, or trust-based products Deliverables include polished desktop-first layouts (mobile-aware), consistent spacing and typography across pages, and subtle interaction states. Light implementation support is a plus, depending on stack. If your instinct is to “add excitement” or optimize for conversion tricks, this won’t be a fit. If your instinct is to remove friction and let the idea stand on its own, we’ll get along fine. Please include 2–3 relevant work samples and a brief note on your approach to designing for trust.
