Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Individual Contributor – Machine Learning Engineer to join our Trust and Safety team at Airbnb Careers Remote. As a senior technical individual contributor, you will partner closely with senior leaders across the technical organization, contributing code and driving the development of our complex technology stack. Your primary focus will be on building and improving Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases, working collaboratively with cross-functional partners, and tackling the changing landscape of fraud attacks. Key Responsibilities Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to build and continuously improve cutting-edge Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases. Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact, understand and refine requirements, drive engineering decisions, and quantify impact. Work closely with other trust defense and platform teams to tackle the changing landscape of fraud attacks and develop strategies to stay ahead of emerging threats. Hands-on develop, productionize, and operate Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, including both batch and real-time use cases, such as anomaly detection models and ML models for continuous risk evaluation. Contribute to the development of our technology vision and strategy, ensuring that our platform remains safe, secure, and trustworthy for our users. Essential Qualifications A strong background in Machine Learning, with experience in building and deploying models using popular frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, with experience in developing scalable and efficient software systems. Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured data, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation. Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, with a strong research background and publications in top-tier conferences and journals. Experience working in a cloud-based environment, with knowledge of cloud-based services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git. Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes. Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or PCI-DSS.
