Senior Software Engineer I - Android Performance
About the position Responsibilities • Improve the performance & monitoring of our Android app. • Identify how to make writing and maintaining performant code easier for other teams. • Push the codebase forward, shipping quickly and safely. • Provide daily support for peers across Etsy (e.g., writing documentation, reviewing pull requests, answering Slack questions, auditing new features). Requirements • Experience working on large Android applications with many developers or teams. • Proficiency in Kotlin and Java. • Proficiency in both XML and Jetpack Compose UI frameworks. • Experience in Android debugging practices and tools. • Product engineering mindset with an understanding of user problems. Nice-to-haves • Ability to define unconstrained problems and seek help when needed. • A 'leave it better than you found it' mentality. • Comfortable with saying 'I don't know' and doing research. • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to contribute to a culture of generosity.
