The Senior Shopify Developer will lead the ongoing evolution, customization, and optimization of our Shopify-based eCommerce experience. This role is highly technical and hands-on, responsible for building elegant, scalable storefront solutions that enhance the customer journey, increase conversion, and support enterprise integration needs across marketing, operations, and retail systems. This position will work closely with product managers, design teams, QA, and data teams to develop high impact features that elevate the digital bridal shopping experience. Responsibilities • Lead development and architecture of custom Shopify solutions across theme development, app extensions, and backend integrations. • Customize and optimize existing Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks. • Build scalable integrations between Shopify and backend systems (OMS, ERP, CRM, fulfillment, personalization engines). • Develop custom Shopify apps (private/public) using Shopify’s API, GraphQL Storefront API, and Admin API. • Drive performance optimization across storefront, checkout, and mobile user flows. • Ensure all releases follow QA processes, accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and crossdevice responsiveness. • Collaborate with UX and Product teams to enhance the customer journey through iterative improvements and A/B experiments. • Troubleshoot production issues, monitor platform performance, and proactively identify improvement opportunities. • Establish best practices, documentation, and coding standards for maintainability and scalability. Requirements • 5+ years of professional experience building eCommerce applications or customer facing digital platforms. • 3+ years hands-on experience with Shopify or Shopify Plus, including theme and app development. • Strong proficiency in: Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS/Saas • Shopify Storefront API, Admin API, GraphQL, REST • Experience customizing and scaling Shopify checkout, carts, product catalog logic, promotions, and integrations. • Experience working with headless or composable commerce setups (React, Next.js, Remix, Hydrogen) is strongly preferred. • Familiar with CI/CD workflows, Git branching strategies, and modern development tooling. • Working understanding of performance optimization, security best practices, and accessibility standards. • Must deliver with the mindset of David's dream maker "servant's heart" mentality i.e., you're either serving the guest or serving someone who does • Must deliver work performance in conjunction with David's brand values of endlessly curious, customer-obsessed, passionately enthusiastic • Must be able to maintain performance at a "tech start up within a 75-year-old legacy brand" i.e., to be the largest ai-enabled retail, media, and planning marketplace serving life's moments Nice-to-haves • eCommerce experience in retail, fashion, or multi-brand environments. • Experience integrating Shopify with analytics platforms, personalization engines, payment providers, and loyalty systems. • Familiarity with Klaviyo, Recharge, Contentful, Algolia, or similar commerce ecosystem tools. • Understanding of SEO principles, Core Web Vitals, and site speed optimization strategies. • Experience collaborating with QA teams and automated testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Jest). • A builder who thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys solving complex eCommerce challenges. • User-focused and business-minded — not just technical execution. • Strong communicator who collaborates well across teams. • Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering polished, reliable software.
