Senior Platform Engineer, Kubernetes Lead
Senior Platform Engineer, Kubernetes Lead Location: Remote (US) Type: Full-time Reports to: Head of Engineering About Dome Systems As enterprises move toward an increasingly autonomous world, the need for a system of control has never been more critical. Our software enables organizations to adopt and deploy agentic systems with the same rigor, safety, and reliability they expect from world-class infrastructure. We are a mission-driven team of professionals intent on solving a fundamental shift in how the modern enterprise operates with AI software. While we are early-stage, our founding team includes some of the core leaders who built HashiCorp from its early stages. We know what it takes to build companies of consequence, and we are backed by Tier 1 VCs who believe in our vision. About the Role We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to lead our Kubernetes infrastructure and data plane deployment strategy. This is a technical leadership position: you will own the platform architecture, build the deployment systems that run our agents across multi-cluster environments, and set the technical direction for how we integrate with container orchestration ecosystems. You will be responsible for the data plane that connects our control plane to customer workloads. This means building Kubernetes controllers, designing sidecar injection mechanisms, and ensuring our software deploys reliably across diverse cluster topologies. You should have deep experience with Kubernetes internals and service mesh patterns, and you should understand the practical trade-offs of operating infrastructure software at scale. What You'll Do You will build and maintain Kubernetes controllers, operators, and custom resource definitions that manage our agent lifecycle across customer clusters. You will design sidecar injection patterns and agent discovery mechanisms that work reliably in multi-tenant environments. You will own the multi-cluster deployment architecture, including Helm charts, upgrade strategies, and cross-cluster coordination. You will integrate with Envoy and implement service mesh patterns for traffic management and observability. You will work on low-level container concerns including resource limits, network policies, and container runtime integration. You will establish deployment best practices and documentation that enable customers to operate our software with confidence. You will collaborate with the backend team to ensure clean interfaces between control plane and data plane components. What You'll Bring You have deep Kubernetes expertise spanning controllers, operators, admission webhooks, and custom resource definitions. You have built or operated multi-cluster Kubernetes systems in production and understand the operational complexity this entails. You understand Envoy and service mesh patterns, ideally from working with Istio, Linkerd, Dapr, or similar projects. You are comfortable with low-level container concerns including resource limits, networking, and have awareness of eBPF-based tooling. You have experience with sidecar injection patterns and can reason about the trade-offs between different deployment models. You write Go fluently and understand how to build reliable systems that operate in constrained environments. How We Work We are building a company for the long term, not optimizing for unsustainable sprints. We believe the best work comes from professionals who have the space to think deeply, maintain their lives outside of work, and bring their full capabilities to hard problems. We are remote-friendly and trust our team to manage their time and energy effectively. We value clarity over consensus, direct feedback over politics, and shipping over theorizing. What We Offer We provide competitive compensation including meaningful equity. You are joining as a founder-level contributor. We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. We support flexible working arrangements with a remote-friendly culture. We provide the equipment and tools you need to do your best work. Equal Opportunity Dome Systems is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on capability, not credentials. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse team. Apply tot his job
