Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel - Commercial & Regulatory

We're looking for a Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel who thrives at the intersection of business and regulation. This is a unique opportunity to shape commercial deals and compliance strategy in one of Europe's most exciting marketplaces. What you'll do • Drive commercial growth - draft, review, and negotiate impactful agreements across SaaS, strategic partnerships, procurement, international expansion, and platform operations. • Shape compliance strategy - design and evolve frameworks covering consumer law, AML & sanctions, Digital Services Act, cultural property, product safety, and other platform obligations. • Cut through complexity - distill complex legal and regulatory questions into clear business choices, aligned with Catawiki's risk appetite. • Be a trusted business partner - provide pragmatic, risk-based guidance to product, tech, marketing, and commercial teams. • Structure and lead projects - oversee regulatory rollouts, new market entries, and cross-border deals from start to finish, ensuring effective delivery. • Strengthen the function for scalable impact - design smart processes, playbooks, templates, and training that embed legal and compliance awareness into everyday decision-making, ensuring the function scales with the business. • Mentor and coach - support junior counsels, empowering them to grow into broader responsibilities across commercial and compliance topics. What you'll bring • A qualified EU lawyer with 8+ years' experience spanning commercial law and compliance, ideally in e-commerce, tech, or platform businesses. • Proven ability to negotiate cross-border agreements and navigate complex, international regulatory landscapes. • Experienced in balancing legal accuracy with commercial pragmatism, applying a risk-based approach. • Confident in advising on both contracts and compliance frameworks (SaaS, vendor, and marketplace agreements; AML, sanctions, consumer law, DSA, product regulation). • A strong communicator who can influence and align stakeholders at every level - from engineers, commercial teams to executives. • Strong project management skills and comfort working in matrixed, cross-functional teams • Hands-on, adaptable, and excited to learn and deliver impact across multiple legal domains. • Fluent in English; other European languages (Dutch) are a plus.
