[Remote] Senior Transmission and Distribution Valuation Consultant

They are seeking a Senior Transmission and Distribution Valuation Consultant to provide consultancy services for utilities, focusing on the assessment of T&D assets and expansion planning. Responsibilities • Deliver consulting services for assessment of value and condition of T&D assets, as well as the short-, medium-, and long-term expansion planning of these assets, including the costing of investments • Conduct assessment of system impact, and of estimation of the economic value of the network assets of distribution utilities experiencing high levels of building and transportation electrification and deployment of distributed resources in their grids • Assess current and projected operation and maintenance costs of the T&D systems • Participate in the energy transformation of the electric industry by providing analysis and insights of impacts on the T&D systems of plans developed by our teams for incorporation of non-emitting generation and other supply options for the decarbonization of the grid and retirement of existing assets • Perform modeling and simulation of T&D networks to support short- and long-term planning, as an input for valuations • Work with other team members in reviewing filed rate cases before regulatory commissions and filed FERC Form 1 reports, in assessing the regulatory accounting and of T&D assets and other aspects of network regulation, and in conducting financial modeling of T&D assets • Advise clients acquiring or transferring T&D assets, via corporate acquisitions or regulated ownership transfer to municipalities or other governmental entities • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations • Work in project teams, ensuring quality of project results and completion within budget and schedule • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationships Skills • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physics, mathematics or other STEM fields • Demonstrable knowledge of technical and economic factors impacting expansion and operation of T&D network • Proven experience in T&D planning or other areas of utility network operations with distribution tools such as CYME, Synergy, Milsoft, and/or SINCAL—or transmission modeling expertise with a tool such as PSS/E and a desire to learn about and work in distribution valuation modeling • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, notably within the U.S • Proficiency with GIS tools such as ESRI ArcGIS or GE Smallworld • Experience with transmission and distribution expansion and operations, preferably with planning teams • Experience with the assessment of impacts of utility scale and distributed energy resources on the T&D grids • Experience with field work in utilities, preferably with condition assessment of network equipment, is highly desired • Experience advising transactions involving acquisition or ownership transfers of T&D assets or filing general rate cases • Experience managing consulting projects or with business development in a consulting environment • Experience working with or supporting utilities, regulators, investors, or similar players in power industry • Expertise in wholesale electricity markets and power system operation is a plus Company Overview • Siemens empowers customers to transform the industries that form the backbone of economies: industry, transportation, buildings and grids.
