[Remote] Senior Algorithm & FPGA Engineer (Weapons Systems)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AstroNetix is seeking a senior-level engineer to support a next-generation undersea weapons program. This role focuses on designing, modeling, and deploying real-time signal processing and algorithmic capabilities, transitioning validated MATLAB and Simulink models into FPGA-based implementations. Responsibilities • Develop, analyze, and validate signal processing and estimation algorithms in MATLAB and Simulink • Translate algorithmic designs into synthesizable VHDL for FPGA implementation • Support algorithm-to-hardware trade studies, including latency, throughput, and resource utilization • Generate test vectors and conduct simulation, SIL, and HIL verification • Collaborate with systems, software, and integration teams to ensure end-to-end performance • Support integration and test events at partner or Navy facilities as required Skills • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field • 8+ years of experience developing real-time algorithms for defense or safety-critical systems • Advanced proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for algorithm development and validation • Demonstrated experience implementing algorithms in FPGA hardware using VHDL or Verilog • Strong understanding of fixed-point arithmetic, timing closure, and hardware constraints • Experience with signal processing, estimation, tracking, or sensor fusion algorithms • U.S. citizenship and ability to work in classified environments • Master's or PhD in a relevant technical discipline • Experience supporting undersea, sonar, guidance, radar, ISR, or weapons systems • Familiarity with HDL co-simulation tools (ModelSim, Questa, or equivalent) • Experience with SIL/HIL environments and system-level verification • Prior work with DoD primes, FFRDCs, or Navy laboratories Company Overview • Space, Cyber, Intelligence It was founded in 2022, and is headquartered in Chantilly, VA, with a workforce of 2-10 employees.
