Remote Residential Financial Specialist
About the position The Residential Financial Specialist (RFS) at Equity Residential is responsible for ensuring accurate bookkeeping and posting of all resident transactions for properties within the portfolio. This role involves partnering with property management to maximize income opportunities, analyzing trends, and recommending process improvements. The RFS monitors resident accounts, performs detailed account research, and ensures compliance with state laws and internal policies related to property bookkeeping. Responsibilities • Ensure accurate bookkeeping and posting of all resident transactions. • Monitor residents' accounts in the property management system (MRI). • Perform detailed account research for timely and accurate posting of payments. • Generate Statement of Deposit and Accounts (SODA) for move-outs and canceled applicants. • Handle return payments and run delinquency reports. • Validate evictions and ensure accurate processing according to policies and laws. • Monitor and process resident account adjustments to capture all revenue. • Generate reports to monitor resident status of outstanding transactions. • Perform closing steps in the accounting cycle and reconcile accounts with property management. • Support on-site property management by responding to inquiries. • Communicate with Regional Managers to identify trends and training opportunities. Requirements • Four or more years of professional work experience in property management, hospitality, or retail. • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices. • High School diploma or equivalent; college degree or coursework preferred. • Computer literacy and effective communication skills.
