Asset Smart is seeking an experienced Private Wealth Accountant (CPA) to support private clients with advanced tax strategy and ongoing financial clarity. The role involves overseeing client accounting, tax strategy and planning, compliance, and collaboration with various advisors to ensure accurate and efficient financial management for individuals and entities. Responsibilities • Oversee and reconcile books for private clients, trusts, and trust-owned entities • Ensure accurate classification of income, expenses, distributions, and inter-entity transactions • Review financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and proper positioning • Coordinate with clients to gather financial data and maintain clean, defensible records • Identify legitimate tax-saving opportunities through proper structuring, timing, and reporting • Support tax efficiency strategies in coordination with trust design and implementation • Advise clients on the tax implications of trusts, distributions, and entity structures • Apply professional judgment when evaluating positions, rather than relying solely on default assumptions • Prepare and/or review tax filings, which may include: Individual returns, Trust returns, Entity returns (LLCs, partnerships, corporations) • Ensure filings are accurate, timely, and consistent with governing trust and entity documents • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state requirements • Work closely with trust consultants, legal professionals, and external/internal advisors • Review financial activity to ensure alignment with governing instruments and client objectives • Identify inconsistencies, risks, or inefficiencies and raise them proactively • Communicate clearly with clients and advisors regarding findings and recommendations • Acts in the best interest of private clients while maintaining full compliance with applicable tax and reporting requirements • Understands the importance of governing documents, private agreements, and trust instruments in defining rights, obligations, and tax treatment • Appreciates the role of contractual clarity and documentation in supporting defensible tax positions • Exercises independent professional judgment balanced with prudence and compliance Skills • Active CPA license in good standing • Strong background in tax accounting and compliance • Experience working with private clients, trusts, or closely held entities • High attention to detail and comfort with complex structures • Discreet, professional, and client-focused • Clear communicator who can explain complex topics in plain language • Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented • Comfortable operating in a non-traditional, advisory-driven environment Company Overview • Building Trusts, Protecting Futures.
