Role: Principal Azure Architect with Heathcare Experience Location: Remote Duration: 12+ Months Must Have: • 7+ years designing and deploying distributed systems or cloud environments, with at least 5 years in cloud architecture/engineering (preferably Azure). Proven experience in automation, scripting and hybrid cloud management. • Technical expertise – Deep understanding of identity and access management, encryption, private networking and cloud‑native security controls. • High proficiency with Azure networking topologies (NSG’s, Azure firewall, gateways, spoke and hub, containers), FinOps (both in design and optimization of TCO and forecasting), and platform decisioning (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Container). Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) and EMR migrations. • Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform), container orchestration (AKS/Kubernetes), and DevOps pipelines. Job description: The Principal Azure Architect will lead the design and governance of a unified Azure and hybrid cloud architecture for Temple Health. This role partners closely with cloud, security, and clinical IT leadership to ensure all workloads meet healthcare security, compliance, and reliability standards. The position is based on the US East Coast (onshore/nearshore). Responsibilities: • Define and lead cloud strategy and architecture across Azure and hybrid environments, enabling cloud-native services and integration with EMR systems (Epic/Cerner). • Own security, compliance, and identity architecture, ensuring adherence to HIPAA, HITRUST, and NIST, using Azure Entra ID and Microsoft 365 E5 security capabilities. • Design and optimize identity and access management, including RBAC, PIM, MFA, and hybrid identity solutions. • Enable data interoperability and AI/ML initiatives, supporting scalable platforms for analytics and LLM development while advocating standards such as FHIR and HL7. • Lead migration and modernization efforts, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience for clinical workloads. • Provide leadership on DevSecOps, automation, and IaC, mentoring teams on CI/CD, Bicep/Terraform, and security automation.
