Job Summary As a Remote Physician Pro Fee Coding Specialist - OBGYN, you will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring that all services documented in patient charts are coded with the appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD codes. You will work closely with our clinics to resolve denials, request additional medical records as needed, and maintain a working knowledge of coding principles, governmental regulations, and third-party requirements. Key Responsibilities Evaluate medical record documentation to ensure accurate assignment and sequencing of diagnostic and procedure codes for services and treatments. Provide training, mentoring, and direction to medical coding staff in the department. Work with clinics to resolve denials from clinic denial logs and request additional medical records as needed. Make corrections as needed to ensure accurate coding and billing and reimbursement processing. Communicate coding results to the appropriate staff for data entry. Maintain a working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements. Remain current on all changes in legislative regulations that impact coding. Report noncompliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring to the department supervisor and Senior Director of Physician Coding and Documentation. Ensure assigned projects are completed in a timely manner. Maintain strict confidentiality of provider information, patient data, financial, and billing information. Essential Qualifications To perform this job successfully, you must possess: A vast knowledge of CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding and reimbursement issues for physician offices and clinics. Strong knowledge of 1995 and 1997 Documentation guidelines. Excellent understanding and comprehension of medical terminology. The ability to balance and juggle multiple tasks, projects, and requests. The ability to make sound decisions objectively and follow through. Effective communication skills to address issues or weaknesses with coding and documentation to providers. Detail-oriented and analytical skills. The ability to interact confidently with providers, staff, corporate CHS management, and/or other CHS-affiliated personnel. Clinical knowledge and ability to evaluate and summarize clinical records to support successful appeal. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: CPC or CCS-P certification. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with physician offices or clinics, focusing on diagnostic and procedure coding and/or medical billing. Proven analytical and organizational ability. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, you should have knowledge of: Word Processing software. Spreadsheet software. Database software. Practice management software. Electronic medical records software.
