[Remote] Mechatronics Engineering - Engineering Development Program – New Grad
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Metrolinx is recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People and is seeking recent graduates for their Engineering Development Program. Participants will complete a series of rotations in various engineering departments, gaining hands-on experience and professional development opportunities in transit systems. Responsibilities Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of engineers and professionals on system integration, operational readiness, asset maintenance, and engineering assurance activities Work with applicable codes and standards including AREMA, CN, NFPA, OBC, CSA, OESC, IEEE, EN and CENELEC Contribute to the development of mathematical models and calculations for Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering analysis Participate in work and construction site visits for routine inspections, documentation, as well and monitor and track safety KPIs Review of work plans, SOPs and JHAs to identify safety infractions and compliance to OHSA Synthesize information to analyze issues relevant to the development and implementation of new projects Monitor legislation relevant to Metrolinx’s activities being considered and passed at all levels of government, and compile information on a weekly basis for senior staff Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect and document information relating to ongoing projects and department incentives Assist in the preparation of documentation such as engineering drawings, reports, and specifications Attend training and development sessions to enhance your engineering knowledge and skills Skills Must have graduated from a post-secondary in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering within the last 2 years (no earlier than June 2024), or will be graduating as of June 2026 Must be able to start full-time employment as of June 1, 2026 and commit to the full program duration (4 years) Interpersonal, and oral/written skills to communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders to develop and distribute correspondence Organizational skills to work independently and prioritize daily requirements with limited supervision Experience in research, analytical, and problem-solving skills Use of modelling tools, programming ability, database management and statistical analysis Familiarity with the Railway Safety Act and CROR Understanding of CMREA and RAMS Engineering Must be able to pass a background check and maintain a valid G driver's license to attend site visits Familiarity with the Railway Safety Act and Canadian Railway Operating Rules Benefits Competitive compensation.
