[Remote] Finance Controller: Americas Funds

Vistra is a leading global fund administration, trust and corporate services provider, and they are seeking a Financial Controller to join their Finance Team. The role involves overseeing core accounting, reporting, treasury, and tax functions while managing a team and ensuring the integrity of financial statements. Responsibilities • Directs the day-to-day accounting activities and accounting operational functions including revenue accounting/recognition, billing reconciliation, cash, accounts payable, intercompany transactions, expense accruals, other asset and liability accounting and payroll • Effectively leads and manages month-end, year-end close processes including meeting Vistra Funds & Retail month-end general ledger close deadlines, financial reporting and supplementary schedules/analysis deadlines and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts by established deadlines • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and underlying financial data • Recommend and develop improvements to company’s revenue accounting, including revenue accruals and deferred revenue accounting entries. Develop improved methodologies and supporting schedules for monthly revenue, accrued revenue balance and deferred revenue balances • Prepare federal and state tax provisions for book reporting purposes and record corresponding accounting entries, including deferred tax items. Collaborate with external tax professionals on forecasting tax estimates and issuing tax payments. Provides financial reports and supporting schedules to external tax professional for preparation of annual filings • Provide support with insightful analysis on monthly financial results (e.g. deep dive analysis on key revenues and expenses, month vs. month variances) • Perform treasury functions, including monitoring of all cash activity, preparation of monthly cash flow projections and executing/approving vendor payments and bank transfers • Plays a lead role with general ledger system conversion (to SAP S/4HANA) and related accounting process changes • Develop, implement and document policies, procedures, controls and SOPs • Proactively identifies improvements and efficiencies in accounting processes, especially in the area of revenue and affiliate expense entries • Lead role in setting SOPs, deliverables and expectations of Vistra Shared service teams performing accounting operations on behalf of Vistra US – i.e. client billing and accounts payable related to vendors performing services on behalf of Vistra US clients. Regularly communicate and work with shared service team leads to ensure work completed meet established requirements so that resulting accounting activity, entries, and reports are accurate, complete and timely • Trains, mentors and manages accounting staff and assists in their development and upgrades overall performance level of the team Skills • Expert organizational and follow-up skills • Commitment and ability to meet deadlines associated with the month-end close and with numerous recurring and ad-hoc deliverables during the month • Proven ability to effectively delegate and manage multiple deliverables, including recurring work and projects • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reconciliation skills • High proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
