As a key member of the Scientific Affairs team, you will be responsible for producing Real-World Evidence (RWE) through advanced analytics and innovative approaches in the clinical trials space. About the Role The Data Scientist will play a vital role in driving business decisions by analyzing complex data sets and providing actionable insights. This full-time, remote position reports to the Chief, Clinical Information Science, and offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading healthcare company. Key Responsibilities Mine raw data sets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data sources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape research methodology. Collaborate with various members of the Walgreens Clinical Trials colleagues to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial solicitations. Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization. Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/RWD to uncover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to resolve scientific questions from biopharmaceutical companies. Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies. Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and promptly interpretable outputs from RWE studies and analyses. Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external utilization. Conduct a reasonable level of diligence on new real-world data suppliers/vendors and drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should possess: Experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Knowledge of common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, clustering and partitioning, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Experience handling large data from multiple data sources. Experience handling protected patient health information. Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI insight tools. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, or engineering. Preferred Qualifications To stand out as a candidate, you should have: A PhD or graduate degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode). Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR). Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions. Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, computational statistics. A strong understanding of statistics and machine learning techniques, with the ability to continue self-learning of technical and non-technical skills.
