They are seeking an AI Engineer to assist in designing, developing, and implementing AI models and algorithms tailored to railroad operations, while collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Assist in designing, developing, and implementing AI models and algorithms tailored to railroad operations, including predictive maintenance, scheduling, and safety monitoring Collaborate with senior engineers to apply machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights Collect, preprocess, and clean data from various sources (e.g., sensors, GPS, maintenance logs) for training AI models Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns relevant to rail operations Building and maintaining Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines for AI applications Work in partnership with data scientists to develop AI-driven solutions to optimize train scheduling, route planning, and fuel efficiency Support the deployment of automation tools for monitoring and managing railroad systems Participate in testing and optimization of AI models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with safety standards Monitor model performance and assist in troubleshooting issues as they arise Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, business analysts, to understand their needs and enable AI-driven solutions Communicate technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Stay up-to-date with advancements in AI, machine learning, and railroad technologies Participate in training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge Skills Authorized to work in the US Minimum of 2 years experience in AI/ML development, data science, software engineering, or relevant experience Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java Familiarity with data engineering tools and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, EMS, AWS S3, PySpark, RDS, JupyterLab) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, Databricks) and open source environments Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras) Understanding of databases and SQL for data management Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex datasets Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Effective verbal and written communication skills Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status) Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or related field Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, TIBCO) Experience with IoT devices, sensors, or edge computing in industrial environments Experience with GIS data Knowledge of railroad operations or transportation systems Familiarity with predictive maintenance and anomaly detection techniques Internship or academic projects related to AI or machine learning Benefits An industry-leading 401(k) and renowned Railroad Retirement program.
