About The Job MedStar Health is looking for a PRN Proton Dosimetrist to join our advanced radiation oncology team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The proton dosimetrist is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of patient-specific radiation treatment plans using proton beam therapy. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists, the dosimetrist ensures that prescribed doses are delivered accurately, safely, and effectively, while optimizing dose to target volumes and minimizing exposure to surrounding normal tissues. Primary Duties • Treatment Planning • Design, calculate, and optimize proton therapy treatment plans using specialized planning systems (e.g., RayStation,). • Incorporate physician prescriptions and contour data to generate intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) plans. • Evaluate dose-volume histograms (DVHs) and other plan metrics to ensure clinical goals and constraints are met. • Quality Assurance and Verification • Prepare plans for review and approval by physicists and physicians. • Collaborate with physics staff on patient-specific QA measurements and beam delivery verification. • Assist with plan checks, chart reviews, and other QA activities to maintain compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. • Clinical Collaboration • Participate in treatment planning conferences and case reviews. • Communicate effectively with physicians, physicists, therapists, and other team members regarding planning objectives and treatment considerations. • Provide technical support and education regarding proton dose planning and delivery. • Data Management and Documentation • Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatment parameters and calculations in the oncology information system (OIS). • Ensure that all treatment plans and documentation comply with departmental policies, AAPM, and ACR/ASTRO guidelines Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Dosimetrist Program required. • 5-7 years' experience as a radiation therapist or completion of dosimetry program required. • Certified Medical Dosimetrist required. • Graduate certificate or advanced degree in Medical Dosimetry preferred. • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical dosimetry experience; proton therapy experience strongly preferred. • RayStation treatment planning system preferred. • Varian Aria/Eclipse planning system preferred. • Mevion S250i Hyperscan technology preferred. This position has a hiring range of USD $58.03 - USD $114.53 /Hr.
