Project Toxicologist/Risk Assessor

The Environmental Business Line of Arcadis is seeking an ambitious, hardworking, dependable Toxicologist/Risk Assessor to join our world-class firm. The preferred location for this position is in Colorado This full-time position within our Risk Assessment and Toxicology Services group will support our diverse environmental assessment and restoration projects, as well as product stewardship projects. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, business development experience, an ability to work independently, ability to work as a productive member of a high-performance team, and a passion for continued learning Responsibilities • Performing literature reviews and hazard evaluations for chemical substances, as well as critically reviewing toxicological literature. • Reviewing toxicological data, performing dose-response modeling, identifying points of departure, and developing toxicity reference values according to U.S. and international guidelines. • Performing exposure assessments for environmental, consumer, professional, and occupational settings, and for assessing human health and/or ecological risk. • Reviewing analytical data and instrumental analysis methods, and prepare visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of toxicological and environmental data. • Interpreting state and federal regulations. • Technical report writing. • Developing presentations and present information to large audiences within Arcadis, at conferences, and at public meetings. • Contributing to proposal development and business development. • Working effectively with local and national project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field • Ph.D. in Toxicology • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a working toxicologist in a consulting setting • Experience performing systematic literature reviews, conducting systematic data evaluations, extracting data, and risk of bias assessments with quality control considerations • Experience developing hazard profiles and toxicity reference values according to U.S. federal guidance (e.g., USEPA's Provisional Peer-Reviewed Toxicity Values or Integrated Risk Information System) • Detail oriented, well organized, self-motivated, and collaborative • Comfortable working remotely or in a hybrid setting • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software Nice-to-haves • 7 years of experience working as a toxicologist in a consulting setting • Experience developing and validating instrumental methods for chemical analysis (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS) • Experience evaluating exposures to and toxicological effects of emerging contaminants. • Working experience with USEPA's Benchmark Dose Modeling software. • Familiarity with OECD/USEPA guideline testing procedures for toxicological health effects. • Experience performing data analysis using the R programming language Benefits • Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions.
