Project Manager (Systems & Ops Setup) — Ecommerce / Custom Apparel (Up to 20 hrs/week) - Contract to Hire

Remote Full-time
Overview We are building a custom sports apparel platform (team jerseys, men’s league, custom orders) and are looking for a systems-driven Project Manager to help set up and operationalize our workflows, tools, and documentation. This role is focused on getting everything built, organized, and running cleanly — not long-term babysitting or strategy. If the engagement goes well, there may be an opportunity for ongoing work, but this role should be viewed first as a setup and execution project. Time & Budget: Up to 20 hours/week to start, with increase in hours based on workload. Initial engagement focused on setup / launch phase Paid test task required Ongoing work is a bonus, not guaranteed What You’ll Be Responsible For: You will own execution of defined initiatives, not strategy. Specifically, you will: 1. Break down pre-defined initiatives into actionable tasks 2. Sequence work and manage timelines 3. Coordinate developers and contractors 4. Set up and organize documentation and SOPs in Notion 5. Cleanly structure and maintain Trello boards 6. Identify blockers early and escalate clearly 7. Help get systems to a stable, “up and running” state The goal is to leave behind clean systems, not create dependency. What You Will NOT Do This role does not include: 1. Deciding product direction 2. Setting pricing or margins 3. Choosing vendors 4. Writing marketing copy 5. Designing UI/UX 6. Creating strategy or campaigns Those decisions are already made and documented. Tools We Use You should be comfortable working with: 1. Trello (initiatives & task tracking) 2. Notion (documentation, SOPs, protocols) 3. Monday.com (order management) 4. Shopify (ecommerce platform) 5. Google Workspace You don’t need to be an expert in all tools, but you must be organized and systems-oriented. How We Work 1. Clear written rules and scope 2. Async communication preferred 3. Minimal meetings Documentation replaces repeated explanations The expectation is to execute within existing rules, not redesign them. Who This Is a Good Fit For 1. Project managers who enjoy setup and build-out phases 2. Operators who like turning structure into reality 3. Detail-oriented, execution-focused PMs 4. People comfortable working independently from written guidance Who This Is NOT a Fit For: 1. Consultants looking to redesign systems 2. Strategy-first or “ideas” PMs 3. Candidates seeking guaranteed long-term retainers 4. People who need constant direction Engagement Structure: Initial focus: setup, organization, and launch Success looks like: 1. Clear task structure 2. Documented workflows 3. Systems operating without founder intervention If fit is strong and needs continue, ongoing work may be discussed Apply tot his job
