Project Engineer I - Plant Engineering

Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is seeking a Project Engineer I to support project managers on assigned projects. The role involves collaborating on capital improvement projects, analyzing data, and ensuring project objectives are met while maintaining good public relations within the community. Responsibilities Works within the scope of development for each assigned project to critically examine, assess and evaluate data. Follows current procedures established within the Sewer District, while evaluating processes and discovering alternatives to improve environmental impact and costs Collaborates with project managers in the planning, design and/or construction of capital improvement projects by providing technical support and review to meet project objectives Responsible for procurement of outside professional consultants, including developing Request for Proposals (RFPs), reviewing and scoring consultant proposals Analyzes data and processes to maintain the timeline, integrity and quality assurance of current projects. Utilizes engineering problem analysis and problem-solving skills, evaluating possible alternatives and recommending best solutions to meet current project objectives Researches, analyzes, evaluates and presents solutions to identified problems Builds and maintains good public relations by encouraging support and participation in Sewer District activities that align with community environmental goals Participates in meetings within project groups and status meetings. Prepares and provides meeting materials as needed Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required Skills Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field One (1) year of experience in engineering. Internships, co-ops and/or related college level coursework in applied engineering principals can be utilized and incorporated as experience Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the Sewer District's acceptable guidelines Candidate must possess a general knowledge of basic engineering principles Candidate must possess effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills and decision-making abilities Candidate must possess strong public speaking skills Candidate must be detail oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintain detailed comprehensive records, analyze and organize information, have effective project and time management skills and be well organized Candidate must possess the ability to effectively plan, coordinate, establish and maintain effective working relationships and prioritize workloads based on available resources Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Employee must be able to analyze, comprehend, coordinate, make decisions, interpret, negotiate, organize, solve problems and complete tasks Ability to communicate while exhibiting strong interpersonal skills is required Employee must also possess numerical intelligence Physical work will need to be performed including walking, typing, talking, standing, sitting, reaching and kneeling/squatting Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion Position will require visual demands of accommodation, color vision, depth perception and near acuity This position works primarily in a plant environment, but may occasionally require outdoor work While performing work, employee may be exposed to respiratory hazards, wet/humid conditions, work around large machinery, work inside of confined spaces and work at heights Employee may also be exposed to very loud noises several times per month Employee must possess the ability to wear required respiratory protection devices in accordance with the Sewer District's policy, including not having facial hair that interferes with the facepiece-to-face seal Experience performing administrative and/or technical tasks within an engineering project is preferred Engineer In Training (EIT) preferred Benefits Health Insurance Coverage Various Retirement Planning Options (Ohio Public Employee Retirement System and Deferred Compensation Plans) Flexible Spending Accounts Employee Assistance Program Free Parking at our facilities Corporate Discounts Company Overview Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District protects public health and the environment by leading effective wastewater and stormwater management.
