Project Development Engineer – Solar and Battery Storage

DEPCOM Power, an EPC firm and Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Project Development Engineer - Solar and Battery Storage. This role involves supporting the Business Development team by developing solar project designs and assisting in early-stage project engineering activities. Responsibilities Assist senior engineers in developing preliminary solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) designs for utility-scale projects Support the preparation of technical documents such as site plans, one-line diagrams, and energy production models Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Development and Operations, to gather project information and ensure accurate project documentation Participate in early-stage project engineering activities, helping to identify technical risks and opportunities Learn to use industry-standard software tools (e.g., PVSyst, AutoCAD) to assist in energy modeling and design development Help prepare proposal materials and support responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) Contribute to maintaining project records and risk logs to support smooth project transitions Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends by attending internal training sessions and industry events Travel as needed (up to 25%) to support site visits, client meetings, or team coordination Skills Obtained or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or relevant certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related STEM field Experience working in a cross-functional team Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship Valid US Driver's License or ability to obtain one Experience or coursework related to renewable energy, power systems, or utility-scale projects Experience or coursework using energy modeling software (like PVSyst, AutoCAD, or similar tools) and programming or data analysis tools (like Excel (including macros) or Python) Experience with interpreting technical drawings such as site layouts, equipment schematics, and one-line diagrams through coursework, internships, or project work Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure Benefits Medical Dental Vision Flexible spending and health savings accounts Life insurance ADD Disability Retirement Paid vacation/time off Educational assistance Infertility assistance Paid parental leave Adoption assistance Company Overview DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions Company, is a leading solar energy solutions partner providing Development Support, Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Energy Storage, and Repowering + services.
