Principal Architect-Senior
About the position The Principal Architect-Senior provides the technical vision and direction for the integration of all information systems. This role oversees the definition of architecture requirements for all information systems, covering both functional and non-functional aspects such as performance, reliability, and security. The Principal Architect defines and documents the key architectural concepts, abstractions, and the target system architecture, spanning application, information/data, and technical infrastructure. They select strategic tools and platforms for development, testing, and deployment, ensuring the communication of principal technical drivers such as trends, best practices, and the setting and applying of standards. The role involves partnering with product leaders, development teams, and other architects to prepare designs, solutions, and strategies that maximize the value from technology investments. The Principal Architect maintains awareness of evolving technical landscapes and industry trends, leveraging this knowledge to help development teams strategize and design effectively. They work as a key technical leader and direct contributor to deliver on product goals, develop new applications and feature enhancements, and devise strategies to keep systems current, compliant, secure, and stable. Additionally, they support both vendor-supplied and internally developed custom software, act as a technical subject matter expert, and foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals. Responsibilities • Oversees the definition of architecture requirements for all information systems. • Defines and documents key architectural concepts and target system architecture. • Selects strategic tools and platforms for development, testing, and deployment. • Ensures communication of principal technical drivers and best practices. • Defines technical objectives, goals, constraints, and overall architecture approach. • Partners with product leaders and development teams to prepare designs and solutions. • Maintains awareness of evolving technical landscapes and industry trends. • Develops new applications and feature enhancements using Java/J2EE, Springboot, Jenkins, OpenShift. • Implements strategies to keep systems current, compliant, secure, and stable. • Acts as a technical subject matter expert for key systems. • Supports routine and ad-hoc research and discovery. • Fosters a sense of urgency to achieve goals and overcome obstacles. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree. • 5+ years of relevant experience working with technology teams to deliver business and technical solutions using Java/J2EE, Spring, Springboot, REST, JSON, microservices. • 5+ years of experience with container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. • 5+ years of experience and proven understanding of Dev Sec Ops, continuous integration, container-based applications, cloud deployment architectures. Nice-to-haves • IT experience designing architectures and delivering information systems including data/information architecture, technical infrastructure, architecture, and application architecture. • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, OAUTH, and API Management, preferably using Apigee. • Strong knowledge and experience with cloud technologies and building cloud-hosted applications - Azure, AWS, and GCP.
