The Role: Political Affairs Intern As a Political Affairs Intern with The Borgen Project, you will play a pivotal role in our advocacy efforts, focusing on poverty reduction through political outreach and engagement. This is a part-time, 12-hour per week, 12-week unpaid remote internship, with the flexibility to work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks if your availability is limited. Key Responsibilities: Leading Public and Political Outreach: Engage in public and political outreach activities within your state and district, raising awareness about The Borgen Project's mission and initiatives. Government Meetings: Arrange and participate in meetings with members of Congress/Government in your State/District/Constituency to advocate for poverty-reduction legislation. Representation at Events: Represent The Borgen Project at various business, political, and community events, embodying our organization's values and mission. Fundraising: Assist with fundraising efforts, including creating a personal fundraising campaign and meeting targets to support our initiatives. Mobilization: Mobilize individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation, fostering a community of advocates. Public Speaking: Engage in public speaking opportunities with groups, classes, and organizations to spread awareness about our mission. Writing Letters of Support: Write letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media, and other groups, highlighting the impact of our work. Requirements and Qualifications: No prior experience is necessary ; we are looking for individuals who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs. Your GPA and background are not as important as your willingness to learn and contribute to our team.
