As a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization, you will play a critical role in supporting comprehensive coordination of Medicaid and/or Medicare pharmacy services, including intake and processing of pharmacy authorization requests. Our values include: Putting the customer at the center of everything we do Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning Building strong relationships with our colleagues, customers, and partners Job Summary As a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization, you will be responsible for: Supporting comprehensive coordination of Medicaid and/or Medicare pharmacy services, including intake and processing of pharmacy authorization requests Evaluating, authorizing approval, and communicating decisions for pharmacy requests according to clinical guidelines Determining appropriateness for medications and communicating decisions to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff, members, and/or pharmacists Performing non-medical research, including eligibility verification, COB, and benefits verification Maintaining accurate and complete documentation of required information that meets risk management, regulatory, and accreditation requirements Processing requests in compliance with various laws and CMS regulations and company policies and procedures Escalating requests to Pharmacist when request requires extensive clinical review or denial Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate and authorize approval of pharmacy requests received by telephone, facsimile, and/or other means using client clinical criteria Determine appropriateness for medications and communicate decisions to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff, members, and/or pharmacists Perform clinical research to support requests Administrative Responsibilities Perform non-medical research, including eligibility verification, COB, and benefits verification Maintain accurate and complete documentation of required information that meets risk management, regulatory, and accreditation requirements Process requests in compliance with various laws and CMS regulations and company policies and procedures Requirements Essential Qualifications National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) current and in good standing Proficiency in computerized pharmacy systems and software applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with Windows-based software applications Utilizes various proprietary systems to build, research, process, and enter requests Protects the confidentiality of member information and adheres to company policies regarding confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Experience in a high-volume call center and production unit Experience in retail, hospital, facility, or call center Education High School diploma or G.E.D.
