Company Description Pletcher Law, APC is dedicated to representing individuals throughout California in personal injury, employment law, and sexual abuse cases. In addition to direct client representation, Pletcher Law, APC partners with plaintiff-side firms across California to provide high-level support in: Law and Motion Practice; Discovery Motions / Motions to Compel; Oppositions to Summary Judgment; Writs & Appeals; and Appellate Briefing and Strategy Role Description This is a part-time, project-based remote role for a Law and Motion Attorney. As a Law and Motion Attorney/Clerk, you will assist with drafting and supporting complex civil litigation motions. This role is ideal for a licensed attorney seeking flexible, remote work or a highly capable law student with demonstrated law-and-motion experience. The position is entirely remote and structured on a per-project basis. Work product must meet California civil litigation standards and be ready for filing with minimal revision. Key Responsibilities The Law and Motion Attorney will be responsible for drafting, revising, and supporting the following, among others: • Meet and Confer correspondence (pre- and post-filing) • Motions to Compel (Discovery) • Oppositions to Demurrers • Oppositions to Motions to Strike • Oppositions to Motions for Summary Judgment / Summary Adjudication • Supporting memoranda, separate statements, and evidentiary outlines • Legal research and citation checking using Westlaw or LexisNexis • Ensuring compliance with California Code of Civil Procedure, Rules of Court, and applicable local rules Required Qualifications • Licensed California attorney or current law student (upper-division preferred) • Strong understanding of California civil procedure • Demonstrated experience with law-and-motion practice • Excellent legal research and writing skills • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage discrete assignments • Active access to Westlaw or LexisNexis (required) • Reliable internet access and ability to work remotely Law Student Applicants Law students are encouraged to apply provided they: • Can supply writing samples demonstrating motion practice or comparable analytical writing • Can provide academic or professional references • Have prior experience with civil litigation, externships, clinics, or clerkships involving motion work Preferred (But Not Required) • Plaintiff-side litigation experience • Employment law, personal injury, or civil rights background • Prior experience drafting summary judgment oppositions • Familiarity with California discovery statutes and motion practice strategy Contractor Status This position is offered on a 1099 independent contractor basis.
