Paralegal I - Litigation

The Paralegal I - Litigation will perform legal tasks and provide administrative support to attorneys, while coordinating the work of various support departments and junior paralegals to manage document organization and retrieval. Responsibilities Coordinating and assisting in the discovery process including gathering, reviewing, and analyzing documents for production, with guidance of an attorney or senior paralegal, and managing and utilizing e-discovery platforms Assisting with the preparation of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and exhibits, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence in accordance with court rules and deadlines Assisting in preparing witnesses for deposition, internal client investigations, and assisting attorneys with client interviews by assembling witness binders, containing interview memos, digests, and relevant documents Conducting basic searches and creating reports in databases or other document repositories Maintaining the integrity of the case or transactional documents generated throughout the duration of a case or transaction Completing special projects on various issues as assigned Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains Skills A bachelor's degree (and a signed declaration if located in a California office), or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a law firm or other legal setting required, preferably as a paralegal Display proficient knowledge of applications typically used in a legal office environment, such as billing software and databases, and internet searching skills Demonstrate knowledge of MS Office applications, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook Possess well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm Benefits Healthcare, life and disability insurance A generous 401k plan At least 11 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenure Well-being programs (e.g. mental health services, mindfulness and resiliency, medical resources, well-being events, and more) Professional development programs Employee discounts Affinity groups, networks, and coalitions for lawyers and staff Company Overview Latham & Watkins is a global law firm with more than 3,500 lawyers in its offices located in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.
