Paralegal - Human Services
Jefferson County Government is seeking a Paralegal for the Human Services Litigation Team of the County Attorney's Office. The role involves providing legal representation and support in various human services-related cases, including child abuse investigations and mental health cases, primarily focusing on preparing and organizing documents for electronic discovery. Responsibilities Preparing legal files for court hearings Direct contact with the public, caseworkers, therapists, opposing attorneys, pro-se parents, and the Court Filing time sensitive documents Assisting with trial preparation Preparing correspondence and a variety of legal documents Electronic filing of state court documents Drafting routine pleadings in state court Preparing, reviewing and organizing documents for electronic discovery Redacting, numbering and compiling files Drafting privilege logs Performing a variety of clerical functions to relieve attorneys of day-to-day administrative functions of the office Other duties as assigned Skills A minimum of one year of related work experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis. Human Services casework is considered relevant experience Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience Paralegal certificate or associate degree and 3 years of related work experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
