Operations Manager, Industrial Storage Projects

The Operations Manager, Industrial Storage Projects will facilitate and manage all day-to-day operations of large-scale battery storage projects owned by Tesla Energy. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the Operation and Maintenance of electrical generation and renewable assets and strong knowledge of electrical substation equipment (Low to High voltage electrical distribution, transformers, switchgear, etc.). This person will be responsible for coordination of both unscheduled and scheduled maintenance with internal and external service providers and operational partners while optimizing efficiency and uptime. They will also support the compliance audits and submissions required by relevant regulatory bodies. Responsibilities • Develops and administers operating procedures for O&M of utility scale battery storage facilities. Perform regular reviews and updates to operating procedures • Provide guidance on real time and emergent operational issues and drive prompt resolutions • Serve as the technical operations subject matter expert for Tesla operated utility scale battery storage facilities and regularly provide operational updates, guidance, and communicate risks to leadership and other stakeholders • Manage planned and emergent O&M outages and work performed by Tesla and sub-contractors. Review maintenance reports and drive corrective actions • Schedule and coordinate generation outages between internal and external stakeholders • Participate in compliance reporting including NERC, FERC, ERCOT, RTO as well as local jurisdiction such as city and county • Identify plant improvement projects and act as a Project Manager for the execution of approved projects Requirements • Experience in operations of generating assets. Must possess 10 or more years of experience in substation or power generation protective relaying and automation controls, including engineering, maintenance, construction, or operational activities • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) discipline or equivalent experience • Knowledge of electric power systems and their operation; electrical devices as used in complex analog and digital control systems; and the functions of the component parts as related to power plant systems and transmission and distribution equipment • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, diagrams, OEM manufacturer's manuals, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, schematic diagrams, and computer applications.
