Medical Records Specialist
We’re hiring a Medical Record Specialist to join our team! The position will include processing documentation as it comes into the office, entering data into the system, and submitting all claims by performing a variety of duties. Role Requirements •Technological savvy with quick ability to learn new systems • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Exceptional phone skills • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information (adhere to HIPAA) • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office • Meticulously organized with strong attention to detail Role Functions & Responsibilities • Post daily payments to consumer accounts. • Enter data into designated billing software. • Reviews claims and ensures quality. • Retrieves missing claim information from various sources. • Validates, verifies, and updates information on all patient and insurance information and medical claims received. • Ability to understand Explanation of benefits provided by health care providers. • Identify any discrepancies on received Explanation of Benefits. • Follow all HIPAA regulations. • Compiles medical records and charts. • Processes insurance payments. • Ensures medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete. • Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. • Responds to requests for patient records, both within the facility and by external sources - retrieving them and transmitting them appropriately. • Input data across various platforms including but not limited to: Excel, EMR, Word. • Various reporting as needed • Supporting other administrative duties as necessary.
